For the past 23 years several area Richland District 2 high school seniors have been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from our club. Awards are based on the student’s academics, extracurricular involvement, financial need and an interview. Selections are made by members of the club’s scholarship committee. The club provides applications to high school guidance counselors in February and selections are made annually in April. Proceeds from the annual pecan fundraiser fund the scholarships.
Scholarships were presented at the club’s meeting on May 12, 2011 to the following students: Iesha Heyward from Ridgeview High School who will be going to Clemson, Lindsay LeGrand of Ridgeview, also going to Clemson, Benjamin Smick from Ridgeview who is going to the USC Honors College, Andrew Thomas from Spring Valley High School (SVHS) who is going to NC State University, Shaenna Lambert from SVHS who is going to the College of Charleston and Sarah Meadows from SVHS who will attend Francis Marion University.
