Interact Induction Ceremony Held
An Induction Ceremony for Interact was held on January 10 at Spring Valley High School. District Governor Paula Matthews was on hand for the ceremony in addition to parents and Spring Valley Rotarians. Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people ages 12-18. The program gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends.

Since its earliest days, Rotary has been committed to helping children in need. But in 1960, the organization took a new approach to youth service. Recognizing the untapped potential of young men and women, RI President Harold T. Thomas urged Rotary clubs around the world to find ways to encourage service among youth, foster their active interest in the community, and offer opportunities for them to develop as leaders.
The Interact program was initiated in response to Rotary's desire to develop youth service. The word Interact stands for international action. The first Interact club was founded in Melbourne, FL at Melbourne High School in October 1962. The Interact club of Spring Valley was originally chartered in 1974. The club was reorganized by Rotarian Eunika Simons in 2010.
